News published on October 27, 2026. The situation may have changed since then.
It weighs as much as a small car, and it's a pumpkin. 1,431.5 kilos, or 3,156 pounds: it's the heaviest pumpkin in the world, according to Guinness World Records.
The record
It was grown by Ron Wallace, a farmer from Rhode Island, in the United States. It was weighed on October 10, 2026 at the Southern New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh Off in the town of Warren, and Guinness confirmed the record a few days later.
It's the first pumpkin in history to top 3,000 pounds.
1,431.5 kilos: the first pumpkin in history to exceed 3,000 pounds.
A record that lasted a week
The most curious part is what happened before. The previous record had been set by Briton Ian Paton, with a 1,295.8-kilo pumpkin… on October 3. In other words, just one week earlier.
Guinness said such a quick change of record is almost unheard of.

A record veteran
It's not Ron Wallace's first time: it's his third world record. He had already done it in 2006, with a 1,502-pound pumpkin, and in 2012, with a 2,009-pound one.
In twenty years, his record pumpkins went from about 680 kilos to more than 1,400: more than double.
