Samsung Electronics reported on Thursday, October 29, 2026 the biggest results ever seen at a tech company: 107.4 trillion won in operating profit in just three months, about 80 billion dollars.
Where so much money comes from
From memory chips. Artificial intelligence data centers need huge amounts of memory, and Samsung is one of the world's biggest makers.
Its chip division alone earned 106.5 trillion won: almost all of the profit. Total sales reached 195.3 trillion, another record.
Samsung is the first tech company to exceed 100 trillion won in profit in a single quarter.
A giant dividend
The company will pay out 30 trillion won to shareholders on November 27: 4,601 won per share. That is more than 12 times what it paid in each of the two previous quarters, about 370 won.
And yet, the stock fell
Samsung shares fell almost 5% the same day. The reason: investors were expecting even more, both from the chip business and from the money the company returns to shareholders.
A huge leap
In the same quarter last year, Samsung had earned much less: profit has soared thanks to demand for AI chips.
